Music for Prayer: Go (A Play of Love playlist)

Playlist album art for GO

In celebration of two years of prayerful, playful media remixing here at Creative Commons Prayer, I’m delighted to share the first of seven new playlists riffing on the spiritual practices of the Way of Love rule of life. We’re starting with GO.

In case you’re new to the site: We periodically create playlists inspired by faith themes. In the first phase of this little game, we sang and danced our way through Christianity’s liturgical seasons: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and (Post)-Pentecost. Now we’re getting inspired by The Episcopal Church’s big spirituality initiative.

With some exceptions, the music in these playlists is not explicitly religious. But something about each song—sometimes the instrumentals, sometimes the lyrics, sometimes the emotions, sometimes a single word—caused someone to make a connection. Your mileage may vary, and reflecting on possibilities is the fun of it.

To be clear, Creative Commons Prayer and this playlist are NOT productions of The Episcopal Church. Thanks, as always, to everyone who contributed to my call for contributions on Facebook. I’ve credited the folks whose songs made the list below. The unsequenced overflow list can be found here.

Collect for Mission (BCP, Public Domain)

O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you, bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit upon all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
