A prayer for after

Sojourning God, you have seen me through the storm by your grace.

The way might have been smoother if I’d trusted more. It might have been rockier had you not been with me in the weeds.

Great is my gratitude, but greater still the temptation to put the ordeal behind me.

Help me instead to make it a part of me: narrowing not collapsing my memory’s depth of field, holding the experience in context–out of focus, not out of sight.

For greatest of all is your Possibility, the remaking of meaning in the sanctifying wash of light and shadow and mysterious Presence. Amen.

**

I might be writing a very different prayer if I get bad news in late April or so, but I’m cautiously optimistic. Thanks for all your prayers and patience as I made the final push through Certification Exams. Saying a thankgiving prayer for after in gratitude.

More media this week for sure!

1 Give thanks to the LORD and call upon his Name; *
make known his deeds among the peoples.

2 Sing to him, sing praises to him, *
and speak of all his marvelous works.

3 Glory in his holy Name; *
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

4 Search for the LORD and his strength; *
continually seek his face.

5 Remember the marvels he has done, *
his wonders and the judgments of his mouth,

Another, this one a revisiting. You could do worse than to gloss my scholar-priest aspirations a desire to get faith communities learning together like this.
